Face of TBB 2023 winner statement 👑

I'm absolutely blown away with all the amazing comments and votes I received for the Face of TBB!! Thankyou so much to everyone who voted not only for myself but everyone who entered, it's a wonderful community that has grown to empower women to be ourselves and believe in ourselves also.

My journey started as the cleaner for this group of beauties. Always one of my favourite jobs, straightening out the costume room, polishing tons of mirrors and clearing up after the legendary workshops. I once walked into a floor of feathers and just itched to join but I never found the time.

Fast forward to August 2020, we're mid pandemic and having closed my own business due to covid, Sarah and I began chatting more and she encouraged me to come try a burlesque class. I had more time on my hands, I was feeling down in the dumps having lost my business to covid and needed something new to give me a boost to my confidence and self esteem. I felt overwhelmed walking into a room full of lively women, all chattering and laughing away, talking about everything from queuing to get in Asda to what Boris might chuck at us next. They instantly welcomed me, it was great. The first class was so exciting and I absolutely loved it. Every week I was free I was there after that (apart from the odd lockdown period). I grew in confidence, got my sass back that I'd been missing for so long, I finally felt I could walk with my shoulders back and my head up, I had a strut to my walk, a sashay to my hips and a naughty glint in my eye (I think I've had that all my life though). I've not looked back, I now have 3 shows under my belt. I'm motivated to customise and make my costumes, something I've not done since college! My attic is slowly becoming a sewing room and I get such a buzz from it. I never would have dreamed I'd be dancing with a group of supportive, empowering, hilarious women on a stage in fabulous costumes, these ladies really do make the Twisted Belles. If you're not having a great day, they are there for you, within 10 minutes in their company you are smiling, I love my TBB family. it.

If you're unsure about giving TBB a try, don't be. They're growing fast for a reason..... It works, there's a need for a supportive group of women, those who build you up, embrace individuality and celebrate it. You can totally be yourself.... Me? I turned 40 this year, I also did my first strip tease on stage. The buzz I got from it was phenomenal, I'm addicted now. Come join us and see what passion you uncover....
